Marian Brook (Louisa Jacobson)
“The Gilded Age” opens with Marian, played by Meryl Streep’s daughter, Louisa Jacobson, who recently lost her father and is left almost penniless. Hoping for a better life, she moves in with her father’s sisters, Ada and Agnes. There she slowly thrives as she walks the fine line between conservative societal norms and rebellion against them.
Peggy Scott (Denée Benton)
Marian’s first friend in New York is the ambitious young writer Peggy. The two become friends as they journey into their new lives. Haunted by her past and family, she ends up staying with Marian’s aunts and working as Agnes’ secretary.
