Half giant rat, half naked mole rat: The molerats are among the iconic enemies in the classic role-playing game Gothic and are of course also part of the game again in the Gothic remake!

After our first glimpse of the fearsome new Goblins back in November 2022, here’s new footage of this menacing species of rat. The official Gothic account shared the following artwork on Twitter:

The picture is accompanied by a little anecdote that takes up a mystery from the original. In the text it says:

Ever felt like you were left with unanswered questions after completing a quest in Gothic? Like the quest about the missing nek from the old camp? How could a battle-hardened Warden not handle three Molerats? Sounds a bit suspicious! Anything can happen, you shouldn’t dismiss the possibility. The pink-skinned creatures live in groups of three to four and hide from the sunlight. Together they can still pose a threat!

So maybe we will in the remake finally learn more about a 22 year old quest? What is certain is that the grisly furless rats will return and haunt the Valley of Mines and other parts of Khorinis once again!

Still, in the original Gothc, Molerats weren’t typically overly aggressive and would only fight if we got too close and ignored the warning screams. And while they might look disgusting, at least their flesh was a good food source.

The developers last shared a first picture from the old camp in December 2022, triggering nostalgic feelings in us and many fans. We have therefore analyzed the screenshot down to the smallest detail!

Unfortunately, a release for the remake is still not in sight, but at least you can play the game on Steam put on the wish list.
