You can now play every game in the Half-Life series for free.
Valve is celebrating the upcoming release of Half-Life: Alyx by making all games in the Half-Life Series free to Steam users until the release of the VR title.
These include Half-Life, Half-Life 2, Half-Life 2: Episode One, and Half-Life 2: Episode Two.

Yesterday, an interesting notification was sent to Steam users, claiming that the Half-Life Collector's Edition is free.
As pointed out by various forum users on Steam, the notification describes the Half-Life: Alyx event, where Half-Life Series Free until the game is released.
As PC Gamer points out, there is no "Half-Life" collection available on Steam-but a full "Half-Life" version is available.
The event page linked to the notification has since been deleted, and as of this writing, the page displayed an error message.
All Half-Life products, including The Orange Box, still show prices, so Valve may broadcast the event live later today or sometime this week, unless there is an error.
Half-Life: Alyx is Valve's virtual reality game, scheduled for release in March. Somewhere between Half-Life and Half-Life 2 events In the game Alyx and her father Eli "early waged early resistance to the Union's brutal occupation of the Earth."
As Alyx, you will participate in battles, solve puzzles and explore the world abandoned by alien invasion.
