Predictably, more PlayStation adaptations are planned. And yes, there will be many Horizon Zero Dawn and God of War series. But not only.
Sony’s cross-media strategy is being intensified. After the commercial success of the film Uncharted, the publishing house is preparing several projects for the cinema, for example for the small screen. This is especially true of the Ghost of Tsushima movie or The Last of Us and Twisted Metal series. And it’s not over yet.
Even more PlayStation series
At its annual presentation, the Japanese publisher confirmed that it still had three adaptations of its major licenses in stock. Jim Ryan announced the series God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn and Gran Turismo tonight. The first is currently in development on Amazon Prime Video as a rumor predicted, while Aloy’s adventures will find their place in the Netflix catalogue. As for the Gran Turismo series, no channel has been announced yet.
Sony’s ambitions are clear: to expand PlayStation licenses to small and large screens. And the box set of the Uncharted movie starring Tom Holland should only reinforce that strategy. Despite sometimes harsh reviews, the adaptation has given it its all at the box office, grossing over $400 million. So the publisher seems to want to place itself everywhere, since its series are distributed between HBO, Netflix or even Amazon Prime. It remains to be seen who will have the difficult task of interpreting these iconic heroes on screen. It’s not Kratos or Aloy who want it. Who would you see in these roles?
