In just a few days it has become a real phenomenon and will soon have a little surprise in store for you.
The Balatro phenomenon on Steam and everywhere else
Balatro was never just a poker game; he mixes different genres. The universal rule of card games is tied to the idea of deck building and rogue-lite gameplay. You also don’t have to settle for your hand winning as cheating is highly discouraged. You even have to sometimes abuse illegal or absurd combinations, but above all make the most combinations. A recipe that probably worked very well, as Balatro sold more than 500,000 copies on Steam in just a few days. Almost a blessing for LocalThunk, the only developer of this app, who couldn’t have sworn that their game would be so addictive to some.
In addition, this advantage could also have become a big problem, as the PEGI organization very quickly decreed that the title was not suitable for under 18s due to the use of game codes. Because of this decision, Balatro almost disappeared from some online shops. Luckily, his popularity saved the day. “I am grateful to all the players who made this success possible. Balatro is more than just a game, it’s a dream come true for me.”, explained its creator. Since then the game has been running well and will soon receive its first update.
A little surprise is coming: free content!
The developer of this new indie gem has also announced the arrival of a nice surprise for its players: an update with free content. The latter will arrive in a few days. It will fix a few bugs, but most of all it will add a new dimension to the game of poker with new, new jokers, buffs and therefore new combos. In addition, there is an astronomical amount of balancing effort. At the moment there is no specific date for the release of this update, but you can already discover it in the beta version on Steam.
