If you like war video games like Call of Duty, Battlefield and the like, especially their stories or campaigns, you are surely familiar with the name Lockheed AC-130… or commonly known as the Angel of Death. In case you can’t identify it, this is an AC-130 Hercules aircraft loaded to the brim with heavy weaponry, from 20mm M-61 Vulcan rotary machine guns to 105mm howitzers. Combinations vary depending on version.
We have all learned to fear the AC-130 after seeing it in action in Call of Duty. We know that his appearance is always bad news for his enemies. And for that reason many of us were amazed when we saw him appear in the 2007 Transformers movie. He served as support to destroy the Decepticon called Scorponok… or one very similar. The scene is absurdly epic.
A real AC-130H was used to do this scene. It was nicknamed Heavy Metal and its reference number was 69-6573. It was removed to a United States Air Force military base in New Mexico and there the alien robot was declared dead. The Decepticons logo can be seen in the kill count/operations area of the plane.

We have seen the AC-130 in different video games: Zombie GunshipGears of War V and even GTA Online. However, his most iconic appearances have been in Call of Duty during the “AC-130 missions”: Air Death, Iron Lady, Imminent Danger and Hot Spot, in addition to being a kill streak in multiplayer. As I said before, every game in the franchise should have a mission with these flying beasts.
