Yes, Jennifer Lopez is producing bob the builder The movie, yes, is still in production and now it even has a home.
Earlier this year, news broke that a Bob the Builder animated movie was in the works, which wasn’t entirely surprising since Mattel owns the rights to the series and has been moving forward with various projects inspired by the toy. Surprisingly, Jennifer Lopez is the biggest produce lover of all. She’s still working on the film, and yesterday Deadline reported that it’s in production at Amazon-MGM Studios. Apparently, it was somewhat of a bidding war, with both Netflix and DreamWorks Animation vying for the project, but sources who spoke to Deadline say Amazon-MGM Pictures ultimately won out.

As of now, it’s unclear if the film is planned for a Prime Video streaming release or if it will be released in cinemas, but while Bob the Builder was a big part of many British kids’ childhoods, I’m not so sure today, Its name is loud enough that even Jenny from the neighborhood is credited with making it. Deadline also notes that it’s understood Lopez has yet to be cast to voice anyone in the film, but it was previously confirmed that Twister star Anthony Ramos will play the titular Builder.
The film’s official synopsis explains: “When Roberto ‘Bob’ travels to the enchanting island of Puerto Rico to work on a major construction job, he tackles the issues affecting the island and delves into what it means to build. Bob’s Journey will celebrate the vibrant and colorful textures of the Latin Caribbean country and its people.” Deadline also said it was Ramos’ idea to set the Bob the Builder movie in Puerto Rico.
I still can’t wrap my head around the Jennifer Lopez-produced Bob the Builder movie, but hey, weird things happen — we’ll all just have to wait and see how it turns out.
