HBO and Sky have released the first full-fledged teaser trailer for the highly anticipated second season of “The Last of Us.” The hit series based on the game series by Naughty Dog will continue in 2025.
Today is The Last of Us Day – and the TV broadcaster Sky, in cooperation with the US broadcaster HBO, is celebrating this with the release of the first full-fledged teaser trailer for the second season of the successful series. Today, September 26th, is the day in the history of the franchise when the Cordyceps virus broke out and changed the world forever.
The first season based on the post-apocalyptic game series by Naughty Dog was completely convincing and was also a huge commercial success. Expectations are accordingly high for the sequel, which can’t come soon enough.
After a 20-second teaser clip for Season 2 was previously shown, the first full trailer, just under two minutes long, followed today. It naturally features the returning Pedro Pascal as Joel and Bella Ramsey as Ellie, who will continue to play leading roles. There are also a number of new actors who have already been confirmed, including Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Isabela Merced as Dina, Young Mazino as Jesse, Ariela Barer as Mel, Tati Gabrielle as Nora, Spencer Lord as Owen, Danny Ramirez as Manny and Jeffrey Wright as Isaac. Catherine O’Hara also makes a guest appearance.
The story of season 2 takes up parts of the video game The Last of Us: Part II and takes place five years after the first season. Joel and Ellie’s shared past catches up with them and they come into conflict with each other. At the same time, they have to assert themselves in a world that has become even more dangerous and unpredictable than the one they left behind.
Season 2 is scheduled to start next year in 2025, but no specific date has been set yet. In Germany, the show will again be broadcast exclusively via Sky/WOW.
