Rumors about a remake of the classic The Last of Us have been around for a long time. According to a well-known insider, there are even more signs of a specific release period.
In the past few weeks and months, there has been a lot of speculation on the internet about a remake of the PlayStation hit The Last of Us – also based on information from well-known insiders. There is still no official announcement from Sony or Naughty Dog, but the rumors are now picking up speed again due to insider information.
According to the usually well-informed Jeff Grubb, the PS5 new edition of the first part of the successful brand – not to be confused with the remastered version for the PS4 from 2014 – could be released as early as autumn 2022. He now took up the topic in the Kinda Funny Games podcast and said in relation to a possible release date: “This holiday season is what I keep hearing and I’m pretty confident about that too.”
In the past, Grubb was right in most cases with his not yet officially confirmed information, so that it should still look good in terms of The Last of Us Remake for the PS5 in 2022. The title could then add to a sizable lineup to include Hogwarts Legacy, God of War: Ragnarok, and Stray.
It remains to be seen how the promised multiplayer for The Last of Us: Part II looks like. After launching as a Battle Royale mode, Naughty Dog seemingly scrapped the concepts and started over. Most recently, a blog entry confirmed that they were still working on this content. We will of course keep you up to date in both cases!
