What about the planned multiplayer game for The Last of Us? On the occasion of the turn of the year there was finally a fresh sign of life.
The Last of Us: Part II did not have a multiplayer mode at the time, but one should be delivered later – in the form of an independent multiplayer game. It had recently become quiet again for a long time after the first concept image was shown in June last year – but now there is a new sign of life.
Developer Naughty Dog is looking ahead to what the developer has in store for us in the new year 2023. In the course of this, Neil Druckmann also published another picture of the multiplayer spin-off, which is set in the same post-apocalyptic world as the main games. The standalone game’s new artwork features two survivors approaching a huge aground cruise ship.
You can expect the full presentation of the multiplayer title later in 2023, as Druckmann further hints. The franchise is also celebrating its 10th anniversary after the release of the first game on June 14, 2023 – and it will be marked with “some fun surprises”. Among other things, they want to shed light on “the future of the franchise” and will just announce “some details about the ambitious The Last of Us multiplayer game”.
Regarding this, he added that “the project will be a fresh new experience from our studio, but also one that has its roots in Naughty Dog’s passion for delivering incredible stories, characters and gameplay”.
The game is being developed under the direction of Vinit Agarwal, game designer for the second main installment in the series, Joe Pettinati, creative director at Naughty Dog, and Anthony Newman, lead designer at Naughty Dog.
