After the postponement of Cyberpunk 2077, The Last of Us: Part II is surely the hottest iron in the fire of the gaming industry in the first half of 2020. However, there is now a small setback, because Sony has now completely canceled the first public appearance of the hope bearer.

However, you do not have to worry about the fact that this could be due to development problems, which could possibly result in a shift. Rather, the guilt is the corona virus, which is currently on everyone's lips.

For example, Sony would have presented The Last of Us: Part II to the public for the first time at the PAX East 2020 in Boston after the sequel has so far been shown behind closed doors only to trade visitors. Concerns about the virus are causing Sony to rethink: The appearance at the fair was completely canceled as a precautionary measure.

Via PlayStation blog a statement was released, citing only "growing concerns about COVID-19 (also known as coronavirus)" as the reason. Staying away from the event is "the safest option" while "the situation changes almost every day".

And further: "We are disappointed to cancel our participation in this event, but the health and safety of our employees is our top priority."

The organizers of the PAX emphasized on the official website that the event should continue to take place, but wants to implement more stringent hygiene regulations. In addition to The Last of Us: Part II, Sony should have shown other well-known titles such as Nioh 2 or DOOM Eternal. Above all, the public premiere of The Last of Us: Part II was, of course, eagerly awaited – but everyone has to wait longer.

The PS4 sequel is scheduled for release on May 29, 2020.
