The Last of Us: Eleven years, two games and a gigantic impact
Launched in 2013, The Last of Us franchise has never really stopped occupying the media space. A year after the title’s release on PS3, it was already back with a remastered version on PS4 directly integrated left behind, the chapter dedicated to Ellie, just before she meets Joel and Tess. Back in 2016, we learned during the PlayStatio Experience that The Last of Us Part II was in development.
This second episode was released in 2020, Winner of Game of the Year at The Game Awards a few months later. At the end of 2022, the first plant benefited from the technological advances of the second and celebrated its comeback A remake of The Last of Us Part 1.. Besides, HBO has developed a television serieswhich traces the story of the first game with Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsay.
Finally, and shortly after the announcement of the multiplayer game’s cancellation, The Last of Us Part II landed on PS5 in a remastered version with rogue-lite mode and cut and commented chapters. In two games and just over 10 years, The Last of Us has established itself as one Main license and extremely representative of what Sony Interactive Entertainment can do and Naughty Dog. The next The Last of Us is in the works, but nothing is certain yet
The making-of follows promptly at 6 p.m. Title: Grounded II: The Making of the Last of Us Part II was provided and lasts at least two hours. It traces the long and difficult path of development. Creative decisions, pace of work, public reactions, everything is discussed and even the threats It’s about the baby of Laura Bailey, the actress who plays Abby. But What’s catching the web’s attention is the conclusion of the making-of, presented by Neil Druckmann, co-president of the studio, co-writer and co-director of the game. He begins by saying that he had an idea that revolved around Tommy, Joel’s brother. Nothing has gone into production yet, but it’s an idea he has in mind to make a small game or, why not, an audiovisual production. But it is almost a confirmation of the existence of The Last of Us Part III what Neil Druckmann then gives us:
The first game had a clear concept: the unconditional love of a parent for their child. In the second, we focused on the pursuit of justice at all costs for those we love. It was another simple concept that reflected the idea of love in the first game. If we stop there, it will be a very good ending (…). I wondered if there was another concept I could use. I haven’t found anything for years. But recently that has changed. I don’t have a story, but I have a concept that seems to me just as interesting as that of 1 and 2. It is independent, but three are related. So it could well be that there is another chapter.
“It could well be that there is another chapter“. Such a statement, in official documentation Since it was made for Naughty Dog and validated by Sony, it’s almost worthy of an official announcement. And honestly, it looks a lot like it. However, Neil Druckmann uses the condition, and he explains that he doesn’t have a story but a concept. So we can say that Pre-production on a third main game has begunIt remains to be seen whether this will lead to anything and whether or not it will be The Last of Us Part III.
