The new studio will focus on “AAA independent” game development.
A group of industry veterans announced that they will join forces to form the self-proclaimed “AAA independent” game development studio That’s No Moon Entertainment. The pedigree of these designers is indeed impressive. The team is composed of people from companies such as Naughty Dog, Bungie, EA, PlayStation, Sony Santa Monica, Infinity Ward, etc.
That’s No Moon is the result of a AAA-level talent gathering, plus more than $100 million in investment from Smilegate, the creator of Crossfire. The debut project will be “an ambitious new action-adventure game that will push the limits of gameplay and story.” And there is no shortage of celebrities. As creative director, Taylor Kurosaki, who worked at Infinity Ward and Naughty Dog, will work with game director Jacob Minkoff, who also worked at Infinity Ward and Naughty Dog. The other members of the team have an equally impressive history in AAA game development.
Harold Kim of Smilegate said: “Smilegate is excited to work with That’s No Moon storytellers and game makers to create new experiences, inspire empathy, and build deeper personal connections with players around the world.” Although AAA Class-level talent and millions of dollars of investment are not entirely independent screams, but it is clear that this new studio is trying to bring the spirit of independence into the sensitivity of AAA development, especially the “empathy” as a studio Part of the mission.
Considering the scoring situation of these veterans in the game, we are likely to encounter some special things. The ambitious and successful AAA independent company is not unheard of. Given that the acclaimed game studio is busy with sequels, this may be exactly what the doctor asked for.
