Naughty Dog has delivered one of the best titles of all time with The Last of Us – and this is now to be optimized and spiced up for the current Sony hardware. According to new rumors, the development is already well advanced.
There have been rumors for a long time that Sony is working on a PS5 remake of the previous PlayStation blockbuster The Last of Us – and according to an insider, this is already nearing completion. A release this year is therefore conceivable.
The insider is the renowned Tom Henderson, who is usually very well informed and, as a rule, hits the mark with his statements. His latest tweet on the subject was also from Video Games Chronicle taken up, which used their own sources and according to their own information have come to the same result.
If both are right, then the remake of The Last of Us for the PS5 is almost finished and should probably be released in the second half of 2022. An official announcement from Sony is still pending.
A remake of the game was brought into play last April by Bloomberg, among others. The renowned magazine reported on work on a new edition of the blockbusters originally published in 2013. A small team within the Sony Visual Arts Service Group was initially entrusted with the development before Naughty Dog took over after the launch of The Last of Us: Part II in June 2020.
Henderson even goes a step further in his new tweet and speculates that, in addition to the multiplayer component of The Last of Us: Part II, there should also be a Director’s Cut of the second part. He had heard of both projects, but did not know anything about the specific schedule for publication.
