Netflix Really go all out piecethe show’s upcoming season, Egghead Arc, will premiere on the streaming service next week.
Weekend, official Netflix anime account Announce The next season of the long-running anime will begin airing on January 13, with just a few days left. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not suddenly a Netflix original and you can still watch the new season there if you’re still subscribed to Crunchyroll, but it at least gives you another way to watch the show. Technically, the new season has already started, with the first episode airing on January 7th and the next episode airing on January 14th, so Netflix is a bit behind, making Crunchyroll still the best place to watch the show .
Whichever way you watch it, if you haven’t seen it yet, there’s one thing you can definitely look forward to, and that’s the show’s new opening. I personally don’t watch One Piece (please don’t try to convince me, 1000 episodes is just that much), but I have to admit how visually stunning the opening of the Eggman arc is. I can’t tell if it’s a mix of 3D and 2D animation, but in some shots the characters have these thick black outlines that really reminded me of Jet Set Radio’s art style, which makes the design pop even more.

Honestly, most of the time the style I see from One Piece anime style doesn’t suit me, but what if it looked like this? It would be easier to convince me to watch 1000 episodes. In fact, the easier thing to do might be to wait for Netflix’s own anime adaptation, as last year the streaming service announced that it would be teaming up with WIT Studio (Spy Family) to create a new One Piece series, starting right from the beginning . Netflix clearly recognized One Piece as a way to attract viewers, in addition to its hugely successful live-action series.
