The eternal price question in the video game segment is quite a tiresome topic. Far too often, acquisition costs and playing time are offset against one another, and despite rising inflation, higher prices quickly cause a shitstorm. However, Nintendo does not seem to care about the risk of fan indignation. At least that’s what the eShop entry of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom suggests.
The die-hard Hyrule fans among you have certainly already marked May 12, 2023 in your calendars. Finally, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is the sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Once again you have to save the homeland of Link and his friends from destruction. You even end up above the clouds and you can use crazy vehicles and aircraft to get from A to B faster.

Of course, Tears of the Kingdom will once again appear exclusively on the aging Nintendo Switch. But if you have already saved 59.99 dollars, you could experience an unpleasant surprise. Because with the new Zelda, Nintendo is following the general trend of raising prices. The title costs 69.99 dollars in the eShop. Not a huge jump in price, but it should still annoy some players.
As an alternative to the standard version, you can also access the Collector’s Edition. This will be around 130 dollars. Not necessarily a bargain, so collectors should get a lot for that. The following content is included in the special version:
- The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
- Artbook
- SteelBook
- ICONART-Stahlposter
- Pin set of four
Last but not least, you can get rid of your money for a new amiibo. This represents Link in his outfit from Tears of the Kingdom. If you read it, you will receive special weapons, materials and a special fabric for the parasail.
