The third episode of “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” Season 2 ends with a cliffhanger regarding Theo (Tyroe Muhafidin). Together with Isildur (Maxim Baldry) he sets out to find his horse Berec. They encounter wildmen, but then all fall into an ambush.
Theo is kidnapped and we are not told who is kidnapping him. However, anyone who has paid close attention to the promotional tour for “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” will already have a premonition of who is responsible for the ambush: Ents, tree shepherds, shepherds of the forest.
The trailer already gives away: Ents kidnap Theo
In the trailer, which was released during the San Diego Comic-Con, we see some scenes with the popular talking trees. It has also already been revealed that British “Harry Potter” star Jim Broadbent voices a male Ent and Olivia Williams (“The Crown”) a female Ent.
It would be the first time we encounter female Ents in a Tolkien adaptation. In Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings films, Treebeard reveals that the Ents have lost their women.
Since the Entmen no longer know what the women look like, they would no longer be able to find them. Perhaps the Amazon series will finally reveal how the Entwomen got lost.
Ents are walking and talking trees that, as mentioned above, are shepherds of the forest. Their job is to protect plants and forests from harm.
On August 29, 2024, three episodes were released at once. From now on, one episode will be released weekly in Amazon Prime Video’s new releases program. There are eight episodes in total and work is already underway on “The Rings of Power” Season 3.
