The next adaptation of Lord of the Rings was tackled with controller in hand for a brief gaming session. The search for the precious was not really reassuring.
The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is a linear action-adventure game (divided into chapters) centered around the schizophrenic character of the same name. The latter tries by any means necessary to escape from the prisons of Sauron after being captured by his legions of orcs. Developed and published by Daedalic Entertainment, the title takes its plot between the epics of Bilbo Baggins (The Hobbit) and his nephew Frodo (The Lord of the Rings trilogy) and chronicles a little-known period in the history of Middle-earth.
The Lord of the Rings: Gollum will be released on May 25, 2023 for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S. The Nintendo Switch version will be released later this year.
