The Lord of the Rings: Gollum There’s a release date, and you can expect to get a glimpse of some gameplay with a reveal later today.
Gollum, which hits theaters May 25, tells the story of a twisted Stoor with a split personality who hunts for his Precious until he finally finds it and ends his life.
The game tells the story of his behind-the-scenes experience in the first chapter of the Lord of the Rings. After losing control to Bilbo Baggins, Gollum decides to leave the Misty Mountains and embark on a perilous journey from the dungeons of Baradur to the kingdom of the Wood Elves in Mirkwood.
To survive the perilous journey, Gollum will use cunning, stealth and climbing abilities to avoid danger. However, he also has to deal with Smeagol, his true personality, before it splits in half after possessing the One Ring for 500 years. It’s up to you whether you want Gollum to have the upper hand when it comes to important decisions, or Sméagol to take over.
During your gameplay, fans of Tolkien’s work will encounter well-known characters from the book, some new faces, and many recognizable locations.
The game was originally slated for a fall 2022 release, but was pushed back to 2023 without a firm release date. Fortunately, it has been modified. Once available, you’ll be able to pick it up for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. The Switch version will be released at a later date.
