In “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” Season 2, you will unfortunately have to do without the character Bronwyn. You can read here why actress Nazanin Boniadi did not return for the new episodes.
In the trailers for “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” Season 2, it was already noticeable that Nazanin Boniadi was suddenly no longer seen in her role as Bronwyn. And after the start of the season, all fans now know for sure: the healer will not return to Middle Earth.
As early as May 2024, actress Nazanin Boniadi revealed that she would not be returning to Amazon production. In an Instagram post, she revealed:
I made the decision not to return for the second season of Rings of Power. This had nothing to do with my subsequent decision to prioritize my advocacy. The values I have held most dear throughout my career have been honesty, empathy and integrity. My character Bronwyn was committed to the same ideals and strived for a more just world, which is why I felt so connected to her. I look forward to sharing my latest projects with you soon.
So it was Boniadi’s personal decision not to return to the series. Instead, she wants to concentrate on fighting and speaking for the people, and especially for the women, of her home country Iran.
Bronwyn dies in season 2 of “The Rings of Power”
The makers of “The Rings of Power” decided against simply recasting her character. Instead, we see Bronwyn’s funeral in the opening of the second season. In the series, the healer dies as a result of the fight against the orcs. When they attack her village, she is hit by poisonous orc arrows.
We can see the damage an orc arrow can cause with the dwarf Kili in “The Hobbit” series. After he is hit by one of their poison arrows in “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug”, the elf Tauriel has to nurse him back to health with royal herb. However, it is a little annoying that the talented healer Bronwyn should die such a death.
