PlayStation Stars has good intentions. In order to retain PS5/PS4 players, Sony Interactive Entertainment launched this program that offers rewards for various actions taken. You earn points by purchasing a game, playing a game, participating in a tournament, and more. These can then be converted and saved to be exchanged for digital “collectible coins” displayed in the PS App mobile application, or even for complete games. Well, you really have to be diligent because the biggest productions require a significant number of points.

And it’s even worse because new problems have only recently been discovered and therefore the outages continue on PS5 and PS4. What’s going on this time? Several people on Reddit and elsewhere are complaining about not receiving points after topping up their virtual balance on PlayStation Store.
A real malfunction, because this promotion is supposed to bring PlayStation Stars points. A mistake? According to at least two different people who contacted support, this was a voluntary change. « This option is no longer available. We currently have no information on whether it will be reintroduced as the feature has been removed. » explains the support, indicating that there will be adjustments at this level. Some PlayStation Stars rewards, such as the full version of Gran Turismo 7 or Thank Goodness You’re Here, cannot be exchanged for points for free. Instead of validating the trade, some were faced with a bad redirect, others were asked to pay for the game despite having enough points, etc. In short, it is still very unstable.
We remind you that since October 24, 2024, some unpleasant new features have been announced for PlayStation Stars. From now on, points expire within 12 months, compared to 24 months previously. As of March 1, 2025, it will no longer be possible to earn points for subscribing or renewing a PS Plus subscription.
