Not long ago we learned that it is possible (with the right knowledge) to overclock non-K AIder Lake processors. Except that Intel still prefers to warn the smart ones. See instead.
A non-K processor is not meant to be overclockable. Except that Smart guys made it
Intel warns
In particular, the company warns that overclocking the processor will void the chip’s warranty and can damage both the processor itself and other computer components. The journalists of the site Tom’s hardware Contacted Intel, here is their response:
Intel’s 12th Gen non-K processors were not designed to be overclocked. Intel does not guarantee the operation of processors beyond their specifications. Changing the clock frequency or voltage can damage the processor and other system components, as well as their stability and performance, or reduce their lifespan.
This possibility of overclocking is obviously a manufacturer’s mistake and there is a good chance that the new BIOS updates will reduce it to zero. If in doubt, we can strongly advise you to avoid tampering, especially if you don’t really have the know-how to overclock a more “classic” K model.
