What will be the must-have Steam games of 2024? Here’s a complete list of players’ biggest expectations for an Arlesian that still inspires dreams.
Video game releases are not expected to calm down in 2024, and big releases like FF7 Rebirth, which is exclusive to PS5, are expected. But players from other backgrounds – Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch or PC – will also have a lot to do. And some have also expressed interest in numerous games scheduled to release next year, particularly on Steam. If you get lost in the huge range of video games, here is a roundup of all the titles that catch the eye of users of the Valve service, from the most popular to the least popular.
The 10 most anticipated games on Steam in 2024
FF7 Remake 2 is considered one of the most anticipated games of 2024, but behind it are a whole host of other games like Tekken 8, Rise of the Ronin, The Plucky Squire, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth and Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2, Star Wars Outlaws or even The Shadow of the World Tree, the GOTY 2022 Elden Ring expansion. Software that is wanted by a part of the community, but not necessarily by gamers and Steam players. In fact, in the ranking of upcoming “games on the wish list” we find other productions, all of which are planned in the coming months. And yes, Hollow Knight Silksong exists, and it’s even in the top three most anticipated Steam games of 2024.
#10 Nightingale
To start this top 10 games most desired by the Steam community, we asked Nightingale. A survival and adventure game set in a fantasy universe in the middle of the Victorian era. At least the furnishings are original. Playable solo or in co-op, Nightingale lets you explore an open world and its kingdoms while building your domain and harvesting the resources necessary to stay alive. Release date: February 22, 2024.
#9 Wrapped up
“The Kingdom of Embervale is lost. In their lust for magical power, your ancestors unleashed a plague that devastated the world.” This is the summary of Enshrouded. And to save this kingdom in distress, alliance with other survivors – up to 16 in line – will be essential. It will still be about survival, constructions that benefit everyone – including NPCs – and fights against seemingly devious bosses. Sword, bow or wand, your choice of weapons is yours. Release date: January 24, 2024.
#8 The first descendant
The PC community is clearly still thirsty for shooter looters, as The First Descendant is one of the expectations of users of the Valve platform. And yet the cooperative game with up to 4 people didn’t seem particularly exciting to us at the moment. The beta actually showed major flaws in terms of quests, atmosphere and worse, gameplay which lacked substance. There is currently no release date set.
#7 STALKER 2: Heart of Chernobyl
STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl is one of the most anticipated games on Steam, but also on Xbox Series X|S, where it will be exclusive to consoles. A second part that takes you back to the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone, still promising a Dantesque atmosphere in a world more hostile than before. In addition to the monstrosities, you must be careful not to succumb to the anomalies that appear in the most dangerous places. No release date has been set yet.
#6 Ark 2
There will also be survival in Ark 2, but in a slightly warmer, more exotic environment and with dinosaurs. The biggest challenge for the developers of this sequel is the narrative. Wildcard Studio has promised a more detailed story involving Baboulinet Vin Diesel. As for gameplay, the teams also plan to add free climbing, parkour and more challenging confrontations.
#5 Frostpunk 2
How about a post-apocalyptic journey that may or may not highlight your management skills to save the remaining population and society? This will be the challenge of Frostpunk 2, which takes place 30 years after an absolutely freezing blizzard struck the Earth. According to our dear Camille, this suite is well on its way to becoming one “Great development” not be a revolution. No specific release date has been communicated.
#4 Black Myth: Wukong
Steam users are also very excited to face the bosses and little friends of Black Myth Wukong. A Chinese soul song that adapts a great literary classic: Journey to the West. A novel that influenced many people like Akira Toriyama (Dragon Ball). Like its predecessors, Black Myth Wukong will feature different fighting stances, transformations and a long staff like Goku. It will be released on August 20, 2024 on consoles and PC.
#3 Hollow Knight Silk Song
The massive Hollow Knight Silksong from Arles, the subject of a running joke at every Nintendo Direct, is still in the hearts of PC and console gamers. So it’s no surprise to see it here, even if a 2024 release date is still completely uncertain. The previous Hollow Knight didn’t reinvent the Metroidvania wheel, but applied the formula with undeniable talent, especially because of its Tim Burton-style art direction, which was simply magnificent. We won’t tell you anything, we’re still waiting for a release date.
#2 Landlords
Right before Hollow Knight Silksong we have Manor Lords, which will certainly appeal to fans of medieval adventures. This is a strategy game in which you play a medieval gentleman at the end of the 14th century.e Century, and where you have to build your own city with great freedom of action. No restrictions from grids or anything else, it’s up to you to make your chaos the way you want it. Release date: April 16, 2024.
#1 Hades 2
First place for games that generate the most interest among Steam users goes to… Hades 2! Supergiant Games’ roguelike sequel is already breaking records before its release, and that shouldn’t change until then. The previous episode, “Hades,” was a tidal wave that delivered a massive slap in the face to roguelike fans, as well as anyone unfamiliar with the genre. This will be available in Early Access on Steam and the Epic Games Store in the second quarter of 2024.
The 50 most sought-after games on Steam in 2024 and 2025
These are the top 10 most sought-after games on Steam in 2024, but the top 50 are also visible thanks to SteamDB. A classification that fortunately corrects a monumental flaw: the lack of survival horror. A genre that is particularly close to our hearts and is represented here by Silent Hill 2 Remake in 23Th Position. It’s far away, but at least it’s mentioned. In this list we also note the great popular vote for the different versions of Homeworld 3, which will be released on March 8, 2024. In general we note the presence of Tekken 8, Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake, the PC port of Horizon Forbidden West. Persona 3 Reload or the future GOTY for fans of big trucks, Euro Truck Simulator 2 – Heart of Russia.
