Although it was almost certain after the recent leaks, the rumors have come true: The horror classic Alone in the Dark from 1992, which is considered the first survival horror game ever, is getting a real remake.
In our article we will tell you what awaits you in the new edition of the first part of the legendary horror series.
This is what awaits you in Alone in the Dark Remake
As you can probably already guess, well-known characters and locations return in the remake. Just like in the 1992 original, you can switch between the characters Edward Carnby und Emily Hartwood choose to solve the suicide of the protagonist’s uncle.
To do this, it takes you back to the cursed mansion Derceto Manor, inhabited by Lovecraftian monsters. The story is supposed to be broadly based on the original, but it could get a massive upgrade as Mikael Hedberg, who previously wrote the narratively grandiose SOMA, will be in charge of the story.
But a lot will also change in terms of play. Instead of the classic perspective with a fixed camera and tank controls, the remake will offer a third-person perspective, which in the first trailer is quite reminiscent of the remakes of the Resident Evil series. But it’s best to see for yourself how the two heroes dissect their sinister enemies with shotgun and pistol:
