Netflix’s Avatar series could very well have had a completely different antagonist. But sometimes chance makes things good and that’s a good thing!
Netflix recently launched one of the most anticipated series this year: Avatar: The Last Airbender. A program that greatly divides fans. Paradoxically, the series is also a huge success, completely surpassing other adaptations that are considered more successful, yes, we’re talking about that One piece. Unfortunately, it has the same name as the film franchise produced by James Cameron that grosses billions in theaters. In addition to the legal issues this may have created between the two licenses, the same name still leads to misunderstandings, which would have resulted in the series almost being completely different in the end.
Avatar or avatar?
Even fifteen years after its initial publication Avatar (the blue) is still a monument of cinema. With the release of his second film in 2022, James Cameron has confirmed this again and completely adopted the name “Avatar”. On the other hand, when making a film adaptation, it was necessary to add “The Last Airbender” to the title to avoid confusion. However, it must be assumed that many people continue to confuse between the two works. And that’s why we have the right (thanks) to a very, very good antagonist in the series. Because when his actor, the very good Ken Leung, was cast, it was pure luck!
The man actually stated that during his audition he had no idea what role he was auditioning for because everything was very secret. Even worse ! He didn’t know anything about the license Avatar the Last Airbender.
