Chinese publisher Hypergryph announces its next RPG: Arknights Endfield for PC and mobile. As the name suggests, this is a game that takes place in the Arknights universe.

While Genshin Impact is the talk of the town when it comes to hit gacha games, the Arknights franchise has made its small impact to the point that it’s been named “one of the most innovative games of 2020”. That certainly prompted Chinese publisher Hypergryph to quickly order a title in this universe, and here comes Arknights: Endfield.

An evolving universe

First of all, Arknights Endfield is not the sequel to the previous game, but a new piece of software rooted in the world of Arknights. Therefore, it will develop its own story and characters.

We also have a synopsis of the plot:

Endfield’s story begins on a planet called Talos-II, a dangerous place that takes players on exciting and varied missions. Vast wild lands and desert areas stretch beyond the area that the Habitable Camp colonies could roam and inspect. Therefore, players must explore this wild world together with the operators of Endfield Industries to discover the mysteries and secrets hidden in the abandoned ruins.

Arknights Endfield: a tactical role-playing game in anime mode

While it will implement new gameplay mechanics, Arknights Endfield remains a tower defense RPG with 3D strategy elements that will feature real-time combat. As you explore the planet Talos II to protect it from external disasters, you must control multiple characters, rather than just one. In fact, in Arknights you played “Doctor”, a mysterious and amnesiac protagonist (a great classic that obviously never goes out of style).

With its anime style, locations and characters, Arknights Endfield is visually reminiscent of Bandai Namco’s action RPG Scarlet Nexus. Also, like him, Arknights is available as an animated series. The season was announced by Yostar Pictures in 2021.

No release date, but Endfield will be available on PC and mobile.
