The Demon Slayer franchise is currently going through a bit of a complicated phase as its new film is receiving fairly negative feedback. But what happened?
Demon Slayer is one of the anime that has created the most buzz in recent years. His animation signed Ufotable has received numerous praises. Building on its success, a film even saw the light of day in our cinemas in 2020 and was a huge success. In general it is a very popular work. However, the fans are not in heaven at the moment. For good reason, a new feature film was released in cinemas on February 25th and 26th, 2024, but it is far from being unanimously celebrated. People are obviously angry for a reason.
Demon Slayer is destroyed by spectators, why?
A little context is required. It’s not a film that has the same form as The Infinity Train. Demon Slayer: On the way to Pillar training has a fairly specific format and is not to everyone’s taste. In fact, it covers the final episode of Season 3 and the first episode of Season 4, each lasting around 40 minutes. The problem is that this doesn’t make it a full feature film as there is only one new episode. Given the price of a movie ticket, some people find it difficult to stay on the pill.
So it’s mostly a preview of the start of Season 4. Obviously some fans felt like they were being harassed, but not everyone shares that opinion. Others understand the criticism, but were still happy with the event. As you have probably understood, two camps have formed that are strongly dividing the community. Regardless, people’s anger is palpable, especially since this isn’t the first time this has happened with Demon Slayer.
Yes, remember, the Blacksmiths Village arc was entitled to the same treatment. On the way to the blacksmith village is a film that brings together the last two episodes of the second season and the first episode of the third season. At the time it wasn’t really popular with fans who didn’t really understand the point of such a format. The fact that history repeated itself therefore remains a decision that is considered quite… strange. In any case, this hasn’t dampened the excitement about the Demon Slayer sequel planned for April 2024.
