Crystal Dynamics is working on a new Tomb Raider game, but we haven’t seen anything yet. Patience, it will change and there is no need to wait several years.
When will the first trailer of Tomb Raider be released in Unreal Engine 5?
After Perfect Dark news and a few words on the return of Legacy of Kain, the CEO of Crystal Dynamics talks about the iconic Tomb Raider franchise. And especially the next game in development.
Disappointed not to have had details or others? According to the studio, it should move from 2023:
Our partnership with Epic and the integration of Unreal Engine 5 into our development toolchain allows us to take storytelling to a new level. We haven’t revealed any details about our plans for the franchise yet, but the team is keen to show where the journey is headed. We hope to be able to do this as soon as possible next year.
Incidentally, we still have some elements on this future Tomb Raider. The Days Gone leader joined Crystal Dynamics in 2022 and is likely to play a pivotal role in development.
A major leak, which has since been deleted by Square Enix, revealed that we could find a veteran 30-year-old Lara Croft commanding her team of archaeologists. It would obviously be an action-adventure game set in our time in a world struck by a gigantic cataclysm.
But the developers could also delve into the personal life of Lara Croft, who would be in a relationship with a woman. A possible relationship that has set the web on fire, between purely homophobic reactions and those who do not want the adventurer’s love to have a place in this title, whatever its nature.
