Mixed reactions from fans
In keeping with what Persona offers: It will be possible to form bonds with different characters to unlock new abilities and gameplay options. However, you will only be a “friend”! This omission is surprising to many as the social elements appeared to be similar to Atlus’ other flagship titles, leaving some fans confused about the decision to remove this feature. As a matter of fact, Romantic relationships have always been a central element of the Persona series, although sometimes superficial… Therefore, some welcomed this decision as they were tired of the online debates about the “best girls” or “best guys” in each game in the license. For them, the absence of these discussions is a real breath of fresh air.
That’s actually good news, I really can’t stand this sort of thing in RPGs anymore. – exclaims a community player
However, others are disappointed because they were already interested in the characters shown in Metaphor’s trailers and preliminary screenshots. They did not expect that ending romantic relationships would elicit such a positive reaction.
But no romance?
Some fans have raised the possibility Metaphor: ReFantazio could have a predefined romantic plot, which could be better developed now that the team isn’t writing multiple romantic stories for the player to choose from. This perspective paves the way for more meaningful and complex relationships between characters that could enrich the game’s narrative experience. However, we’ll have to wait for future gameplay sessions to find out more. In addition, although the game is not yet available for pre-order, we already know the price of the different versions. The base game will cost $70, while the Collector’s Edition will cost $150.
