The new hero in the upcoming multiplayer hack & slay bleeding edge is a dolphin. The animal listens to the name Mekko, probably based on the 1992 video game classic Ecco the Dolphin, in which we also control a dolphin.
Unlike most of its counterparts, Mekko in Bleeding Edge doesn't hang in the sea, but rather floats in a water tank, The eponymous mech, which takes the intelligent marine mammal from A to B, provides the necessary mobility.
The new hero in Bleeding Edge is a little reminiscent of the hamster Hammond from Overwatch, who is also sensible, cute and heavily armed.
The story of Mekko, the dolphin
On the official website, developer Ninja Theory explains the sad story behind the funny dolphin. So he became in captivity by a seedy group born who wanted to make biological sonic weapons from dolphins.
The bleeding edge organization has the poor animal saved from the sea and now wants to prove that people can be nice too. How exactly that should work in a multiplayer spanking game is not yet completely clear to us.
The animal communicates using a voice computer and always has a brisk saying ready. Take a look at this gameplay video from Mekko with the colleagues from Shacknews:
Mekko can do that
A dolphin's weapons: In battle, Mekko hits his opponents with sound waves. Or he protects himself and his allies with an air bubble that acts as a shield. Damage absorbed by the shield comes back to Mekko as a Power Orb, which he can use to add additional effects to his Ultimates.
Ultimate tricks: Ultimately, Mekko can fire a load of sonic waves at once in Bleeding Edge, causing heavy damage and knocking back enemies. Or he locks up individual enemies in a bubble that only his teammates can burst.
An animal with class: Mekko doesn't just live in a tank – he's even one! As a ranged tank, it stays at a distance, but does a lot of damage to its enemies from a distance. It is therefore suitable as a class for players who prefer to shoot rather than fight in Bleeding Edge.
By the way, you don't have to wait long for Mekko. Bleeding Edge will be released on March 24th, 2020 for PC and consoles.
