It has been known since this year’s E3: Lost Ark makes the leap to Europe for the first time. In South Korea, on the other hand, the action role-playing game has been available for a number of years and is regularly updated with new content.
In keeping with the season and the temperatures, the developers have now announced the Korean version big summer update which contains both a new class and a new raid. According to one of the lead developers, the latter is supposed to »bring raiding forward in the MMO genre«.
Big words – still few deeds
Raids are one of the most difficult and extensive endgame content in Lost Ark, aimed at high-level players. Similar to World of Warcraft or The Elder Scrolls Online, there are tough boss fights and of course much sought-after loot.
With the summer update Astalgia now follows on July 28th, such a thing Fan recap of a developer livestream, a new raid with the not exactly catchy name »Abrelldshud«. This is the longest raid in Lost Ark so far and offers six different phases. In a first trailer, the developers provide a little insight:

What makes the raid special? A question that has not yet been answered. According to one of the lead developers (via resetera) the raid is “so ambitious that we want to advance the optics and mechanics of MMO raids for the entire genre and every MMO developer and player should pay attention to it.”
How exactly the developers want to implement this, they have not yet revealed. So far it has mainly been big words that Smilegate throws into the room, but the corresponding proof is still lacking. Mainly because the competition in the MMO genre has significantly more experience in raids than Lost Ark and is hardly that easy to impress.
The announcement and the ambitions of the developer are always interesting and it will be exciting to see how exactly Smilegate wants to implement its own big plans. It remains to be seen whether the product will live up to its own high expectations.
What about the European version?
No summer update for European players for the time being? Astalgia, including the raid and the new playable class Sorceress, has so far only been announced for the Korean version. Whether the update itself or at least parts of it will make it into the European release on time is unclear, albeit very unlikely.
Publisher Amazon, which takes care of the western version of Lost Ark, has already announced that the action role-playing game will offer a mishmash of content from the other regions when it is released. Lost Ark will not be completely identical in content to the Korean original version in this country, at least at the beginning.
In the Plus interview, the developers told us exactly how Lost Ark is being adapted in the West:
