The pure horror of the original film
We are, of course, talking about alien isolation. The 2014 game by British developer Creative Assembly captivated Alvarez so much that he absolutely wanted to make an Alien film himself.
I started playing Alien: Isolation sometime in 2016, casually. I just wanted to see what it was – and then I was suddenly terrified when I was hiding under the table in the game and the creature was running around outside, and I thought: Wow, movies haven’t done that for the franchise in a long time. This is just the pure horror of the original film.

Alvarez thought that it would be great if there was a real Alien movie again. But Ridley Scott was already on his way to shoot Covenant
Therefore, there was no opportunity to make a new film at that time and Alvarez had started another project in the meantime.
However, I did get into conversation with Ridley and his company. When I started my third film [The Girl in the Spider’s Web] was finished, I thought: Now I’d like to pursue this further. And thank God Ridley was kind enough to let me make this film. So that’s how it all started: with Alien: Isolation.

What is Alien: Isolation about?
In Isolation you slip into the skin of Amanda Ripley, the daughter of Ellen Ripley, who you know as the main character in the first Alien film. In search of her missing mother, Amanda goes to the space station Sevastopolwhere the flight recorder of the Boatswain is suspected.
But not only the flight recorder has found its way to Sevastopol found. The Xenomorph is wreaking havoc in the corridors of the space station and has already killed most of the inhabitants. On the run from the alien killer, you will learn the definition of fear.
And what is Romulus supposed to be about?
Well, we – and also director Fede Alvarez – would be pretty stupid to reveal the plot of the upcoming film to you here. This much can be said: In Romulus, a group of young colonists meet on the abandoned research station Romulus the Xenomorph and other scary alien creatures.
The trip, originally planned as a quick raid, quickly turns into an absolute nightmare for the young people, including a fight for their own survival. Our author Vali has already seen 15 minutes of the new film and finds: You have a tough task ahead of you. You can read the entire spoiler-free preview here.
