After registering the trademark, you had a few months to get used to it, FIFA will become EA Sports FC in 2023. Despite this challenging new name, Electronic Arts promises a gaming-style experience.
Electronic Arts drops FIFA name in favor of EA Sports FC
A 30-year-old couple, the relationship between Electronic Arts and FIFA will end with FIFA 23 this year. In fact, the publisher’s next football games next year will be called EA Sports FC.
After nearly 30 years of creating genre-defining interactive soccer experiences, we’re about to enter an exciting new era. Next year, EA Sports FC will become the future of EA Sports football. Together with our 300+ sports licensing partners, we are ready to take global football experiences to new heights on behalf of all football fans everywhere.
In his official statementthe publisher promises that the experience will not be affected in any way by this big change:
Everything you love about our games is in EA SPORTS FC. The same great experiences, modes, leagues, tournaments, clubs and athletes will be there. Ultimate Team, Career Mode, Clubs Pro and VOLTA Football will all be included. Our unique licensing portfolio of 19,000+ players, 700+ teams, 100+ stadiums and 30 leagues in which we have continuously invested for decades will always be there. This includes exclusive partnerships with the Premiere League, La Liga, Bundesliga, La Serie A, MLS – and many more to come.

According to Cam Weber, Executive Vice President & General Manager, EA Sports FC will a “new independent platform offering new opportunities to innovate, create and evolve”.

Presumably, the association and EA have therefore not reached a mutually satisfactory agreement. As announced by VGC, FIFA 23, due out in 2022, will keep its name and will feature a men’s and women’s tournament.
