While in The Flash we will find Michael Keaton’s Batman and Ben Affleck’s Batman very soon, the future feature film dedicated to the Dark Knight speaks of him again with a first leak.
Update June 8: We’ve updated our original article with new information from The Hollywood Reporter.
The arrival of Peter Safran and James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy) at Warner Bros. aims to revitalize the DCU. The MCU contender that previously failed with choppy productions. In order to restore the brand’s image, the two men have created a roadmap in which several films and series are already in cinemas. Several Batman projects are already planned. A leak in either of them would reveal two crucial pieces of information. Good or bad news?
A first leak to the new Batman film?
The construction of the new DCU is progressing quietly. A number of films and series have been confirmed, but so far there are not many details about these projects. And all these mysteries result in rumors spreading on the internet.
In the past few hours, various sources, whose reliability is still uncertain, have been candid about Batman The Brave and the Bold. A new film that will welcome the Bat family, like the game Gotham Knights, and will focus on the relationship between the Dark Knight and his son Damien Wayne (Robin). An adaptation inspired by Grant Morrison’s comics that shouldn’t do things by halves. During an interview, James Gunn and Peter Safran described this Robin as one “real killer” and a “little son of a bitch”. It promises…
According to information circulating on the Internet, the realization of Batman The Brave and the Bold would have been entrusted to Andrés “Andy” Muschietti (Mother, The). The director of one of “Best Superhero Movies” the world, according to some, The Flash. And presumably he would be alongside British screenwriter Christina Hodson. She co-wrote the storyline of The Lightningfrom bat girl that will never see the light of day, or even birds of prey and the fantastic story of Harley Quinn (available in June 2023 Netflix re-releases).
James Gunn, who usually debunks rumors with lightning speed, said nothing. So Andy Muschietti commented on that hallway noise in his place, but it’s hard to see it any clearer. “We would like to (Editor’s note: be part of the making of Batman The Brave and the Bold). However, we can’t say anything yet. But it’s an interesting hypothesis.
A worrying choice of director?
In an article on The Flash, The Hollywood Reporter confirms this rumor. For them, it’s Andy Muschietti “The number one choice for directing Batman The Brave and the Bold”
Should we be happy or worried? Given recent feedback on The Flash, it’s a little scary. Contrary to what has been said in recent weeks, the feature film would be nowhere near that “Best Superhero Movie Ever”. In many reviews, the exact opposite is the case. “A long, slow, ugly disaster to watch in slow motion like someone falling down the stairs for 2 hours and 24 minutes. And a dizzying pop culture object that seems to narrate or even celebrate the chaos of the superhero industry in a kind of kamikaze carnival » pour Ecran Large. “The first reviews of The Flash, calling it the best superhero movie of all time, were pure hyperbole. But given the complicated recent history of the DC Extended Universe, this is definitely an above average film.”
To see if this next movie will get as much acclaim as The Batman or if it will split like Batman vs. Superman for example.
A rain of projects to revitalize the DCU with a dose of Batman
Currently, the releases of new DC projects are pretty unclear. Nevertheless, here is a list of what awaits us in the next few years.

That’s all ? NO. Thanks to director Matt Reeves, an entire BatVerse will see the light of day (Cloverfield, The Planet of the Apes…). The next cornerstone for this construction is laid with “The Batman 2”, but the director is not short of ideas. In addition to the HBO miniseries The Penguin Reeves is on his way to becoming one of Gotham’s most notorious criminals and already has plans to direct films about the Batman antagonists. Should his plans come to fruition, there will therefore be feature films about Gueule d’Argile (Clayface), The Scarecrow (Scarecrow) and the lesser-known Lazlo Valentin aka Professor Pyg.
