Spider-Man will return to the cinema with Tom Holland in the lead role and Zendaya as MJ. At the same time, the live-action series is taking shape and whets the appetite for the first images.
Spider-Man 4 is moving forward at its own pace and Sony Pictures is keeping quiet about this new film. There could potentially be serious leaks by the time the school year starts if the rumor of filming next September is confirmed. But for now, it’s just a rumor and not the most reliable one at that. That’s it for the cinematic part, but Prime Video is working with Sony on an original series that will be unlike any other.
The Spider-Man Prime Video series provides some information
A Spider-Man Noir series will see the light of day on MGM+ and Prime Video. And to don the costume of this alternate version of Spider-Man, Sony Pictures chose Nicolas Cage. An obvious choice since the actor has already put himself in the shoes of this very special superhero in “Spider-Man: New Generation (Into the Spider-Verse)”. Of course, it will be different since this time it is not just a dub, but Nicolas Cage has a certain flair… And he has also confirmed that he loves the character, so everyone in the story is a winner.
Set in 1930s New York, this spider-noir series from Prime Video tells the story of an elderly and hapless detective in a film noir atmosphere. According to an interview with Nicolas Cage for The New Yorker, the art direction is said to be something very special, especially in live-action. “It’s more of a mix of Pop Art, like a painting by Roy Lichtenstein”
In the columns of Deadline and Variety we also learned a lot about the cast of the Spider-Man noir series. Lamorne Morris, aka Winston Bishop in the sitcom New Girl starring Zooey Deschanel will play Joseph “Robbie” Robertson, the editor-in-chief of the Daily Bugle. The excellent Brendan Gleeson (The Banshees of Inisherin) will be a villain whose identity is unknown at the time of writing.
