news culture The next Batman movie will host many superheroes. Maybe even too much…
Batman: The Brave and the Bold (The Alliance of Heroes) was announced in late January and is one of ten DC Comics projects. Featuring an alternate Batman – and therefore not played by Robert Pattinson – the film was intended to be inspired by Grant Morrison’s scenario in which the Batman faces off against his biological son. And according to the latest information, the latter should not be the only one in the family to appear.
The writers felt that Batman’s family has often been overlooked but is of great importance to the Dark Knight’s fate. According to the latest rumours, the Bat-Family should make a remarkable appearance.
The whole bat family at the rendezvous?
The first to emerge would be none other than Dick Grayson, the first Robin. Raised in a circus, he watches helplessly as his parents die. In full performance, the trapeze strings are cut and the boy sees his parents dying before his eyes. Bruce Wayne, aware of the psychological impact of such an event, decides to take the child under his wing. He took care of her when Dick was 8 years old before adopting her a few years later. During his long career, this Robin will take the name Nightwing.
Barbara Gordon (nicknamed Oracle) is the daughter of Commissioner Gordon. After fighting crime under the alias Batgirl, she is violently attacked by the Joker and left paralyzed of the legs. Instead of leaving the world of superheroes, she decides to use her experience and wits from her armchair keeping an eye on Gotham City.
It continues with Jason Todd, the second Robin. Again, the character has seen green and ripe footsteps in his life. While attempting to steal the Batmobile’s wheels, Jason met Bruce Wayne. He decides to take care of it, but the new Robin struggles to hide his aggressive and violent nature. Thinking he’s safe, Todd goes after the Joker and is killed by him in a warehouse explosion – after being badly injured with a crowbar.
Then come other characters like Cassandra Cain, a formidable fighter (able to anticipate the opponent’s moves) who is none other than Bruce Wayne’s legal daughter. Tim Drake aka Red Robin could also be one or Stephanie Brown, known as Spoiler, the daughter of the villain Cluemaster (Le maître des indices). Other Robins like Duke Thomas or Damian Wayne could also appear.
Suffice it to say that it’s making a lot of people and it will be interesting to see from what angle DC Comics and James Gunn will let all these protagonists live together (if they really are all there, which is not certain yet).
