The father of FPS is talking about him again and things are finally confirmed: a new DOOM game is about to arrive and it seems very promising.
Last month, rumors started circulating about a new DOOM game from the depths of hell. New reports have recently confirmed them, including the name. This gives us a taste of what to expect until an official announcement is made very soon.
The prophesied return of DOOM has been confirmed
Since the excellent DOOM Eternal, the cult FPS franchise has been relatively discreet, as has its studio ID Software. However, during the Activision Blizzard acquisition case against the FTC, Microsoft submitted documents mentioning a new work called “Year Zero.” Recently, a trademark registration for “IDKFA” (a well-known franchise cheat code) by Bethesda suggested that the announcement of a new game is fast approaching.
The very knowledgeable Tom Henderson confirmed the matter in an exclusive report. This famous new game would now be called “DOOM: The Dark Ages”. According to him, it would be about the hellish world that fans know well, but with a medieval touch. After fleshing out the Slayer’s story in the 2016 reboot and in Eternal, id Software could therefore explore his past in this potential prequel. Do we have to trade big guns for more chivalrous weapons?
Regardless, we now know for sure that this new DOOM game will be the subject of an official announcement during the Xbox Games Showcase, expected on June 9. So prepare your super shotgun (or super sword?) while you wait to see what will really happen. The next presentation from Microsoft’s gaming division promises to be particularly busy. Remember that this should show us more about Call of Duty Black Ops 6, Gears 6 or even State of Decay 3, among others.
