Dead Rising is back! A new game is just around the corner and fans should be overjoyed. Capcom seems to be banking heavily on this expected return.
As if nothing had happened recently, it is announced that a new Dead Rising game is coming soon for consoles and PC. A godsend for fans of the franchise who have had nothing to get into since the fourth installment. The only downside is that it is not a new game, but a remake of the very first episode of the franchise. But for now, it is the newcomers who will be happy (actually, the nostalgic ones too).
Dead Rising returns from the dead
The first Dead Rising was a true phenomenon in its time. Originally launched for the Xbox 360, the game caused a sensation by displaying more than a hundred zombies on the screen at the same time – a great first for the time. With this comes the promise of an open world in which we can use everything within our reach to destroy the undead with a good dose of second-degree violence. We are then thrown into a huge American shopping mall in the shoes of Frank West, an intrepid and reasonably nimble journalist, with the aim of surviving and getting the best scoop. The game presents itself as a race against time in which all our actions must be carefully considered, since we only have 72 hours to carry out our investigations and save those who can be saved.
As presented during Capcom’s live performance on the evening of July 1st, in this new version, Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster (DRDR), the studio has completely overhauled the graphics, with a new engine and, above all, very significant improvements over the time. More details, a redesign… we’ll even be able to have more undead on screen. It seems to be just as fun as it was back then, and that’s all we ask for. The studio also tells us that if the game remains completely identical to the original, this new version could almost be compared to a remake, given how important the work done is. In addition to a complete graphic overhaul, the game has undergone other adjustments, such as a much improved survival AI. On the other hand, the developers have not touched the good old animations of the time, wanting, as they themselves admit, to preserve a certain comic book nostalgia.
Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster will be released on September 19th on PS5, Xbox Series and PC.
