Everyone is eagerly waiting for Gears 6, and from what we’ve learned, the game could obviously have taken a very different turn than we ultimately expected.
fans of War equipment I’ve been waiting for the sequel to Gears 5, especially the final cliffhanger. But in 2024, The Coalition has taken a different direction: the next episode will not continue the current story. Instead, the game takes us back to the origins and explores E-Day, the day the war against the Locusts began. But everything could have turned out completely differently.
First ideas for Gears 6
In a recent interview, Rod Ferguson, former head of the franchise, shared his initial plans Gears 6. The goal? Leave the planet Sera to find out what war would mean on a galactic scalee. His idea was to use the Union of Independent Republics (UIR) space program to transport the heroes into spacewhere they would have been exposed to new threats. However, the approach would have been far from a space exploration style Mass effect. Ferguson wanted a harsher environment with rudimentary technologies, creating unique challenges and introducing new creatures.
Ultimately, the coalition chose a different direction, preferring to return to the dark beginnings of history Gearbox. According to Ferguson, these concepts will certainly remain on the shelf for Gears 6 as the studio has refocused on the origins of war. This choice revives the nostalgia of the series and promises to captivate fans by immersing them in the founding events of this universe.
This return to E-Day doesn’t have a release date yet, but it does suggest a return to basics. With this approach, The Coalition aims to bring the essence of Gears of War back to life while enriching the universe for long-time fans. And now we already know the ideas that could be explored in a possible sequel or DLC. It’s always like that.
