The test embargo for the Radeon RX 6900 XT has fallen and the results have been confirmed. According to our benchmark results, AMD’s currently most powerful player graphics card cannot quite compete with the Geforce RTX 3090 in 4K resolution, but it sets itself apart from the RTX 3080 across all resolution levels.

As far as ray tracing is concerned, the RX 6900 XT clearly lags behind the new Geforces and is roughly on par with the RTX 2080 Ti. The separate ray tracing test, which also includes a benchmark series with Ryzen 9 5900X, including the latest title and AMD’s Smart Access Memory you can look it up here:

What about the availability of the Radeon RX 6900 XT?

To put it very briefly: bad. No matter where you look, the RX 6900 XT is not even listed. Alternate, Mindfactory, Cyberport, MediaMarkt – none of them.

No cards in sight: Also the well-known price comparison portals Idealo and Geizhals.de do not list the Radeon flagship (yet). And on the AMD homepage the RX 6900 XT has a “sold out” sign. Only on Ebay is there an offer that as of 11:12 a.m. and 17 bidders is 1,410 dollars.

Otherwise there are only the recently common, slightly mocking auctions of packaging images or photos. For example from users marshmellow_11:

The frustration about the lack of availability is apparently also expressed in questionable Ebay offers. But worse than frustration as a motive is also conceivable. (Image source: Ebay / marshmellow_11)

For the first time we were able to observe this on a large scale in connection with the launch of the RTX 3080. At that time, many Ebayers expressed their displeasure with so-called scalpers (bot buyers who later offered the cards overpriced on Ebay) and the poor availability.

When will there be tickets? According to our e-commerce manager for gaming hardware Jakob Erckert, we cannot expect the situation to ease at first. At least not before Christmas shopping.

In the GameStar video we tell you how the Radeon RX 6800 XT (not the RX 6900 XT) fares against the RTX 3080:
