According to Square Enix, the next update of Final Fantasy XIV, the highly anticipated 5.4 patch, called Futures Rewrite, will be released on December 8, 2020.

The raid of “Future Rewrite” has been revealed as the promise of the Garden of Eden and will see Ryan and Gaia invite the players to the open field to investigate “whether life continues to prosper in the once barren desert.”
Fans of Final Fantasy VII, please relax: it looks like this new patch will show us FFXIV’s support for the infamous Final Fantasy VII boss Emerald Weapon. In the popular Square Enix MMO, Emerald Weapon is warmachina code-named Emerald, and we hope – it will bring you as much trouble as the 90s.
