There is talk again about the next remakes of the Resident Evil license, but the news just shared will calm fans’ expectations.
Capcom loves the planet and is very committed to recycling. Yes, oh, we’re talking bad, the publisher delivers us some remasters and collections every year, but when it comes to its remakes in general, we are not disappointed. Except for a few exceptions, such as Resident Evil 3 Remake, which clearly can’t compete with Resident Evil 2 Remake or Resident Evil 4. And if at the moment no other specific game has been made official, we know that other remakes are planned, Capcom has said this on several occasions.
Expectations should be lowered
Now there are rumors that some of them are already in development. Dusk Golem, an informant who was right about remakes, but also about remakes silent Hill For example, we are often reminded that a remake of Resident Evil Zero and Code Veronica is in development. Enough to obviously make fans salivate, especially for Resident Evil Code Veronica, which is rightly considered one of the best games in the series.
However, you should not expect large costs. If there were a remake, they would not be as extensive as RE 4 Remake, which required a huge amount of work and whose copy was completely reworked by integrating a large number of new features. Once again, it is Dusk Golem who brings us the information on social networks. He reiterates that the games are in the pipeline, but we must lower our expectations.
“Capcom didn’t actually plan to make such an ambitious remake as RE4”he explains before adding that “Resident Evil 4 Remake was something of a crown jewel among remakes, and the most difficult to achieve in terms of scope, scale, and expectations.”. Has Capcom fired all its bullets? It’s a small idea, but there’s no doubt that the company hasn’t said its last word yet.
Resident Evil is not done with remakes yet
If this recent news is enough to dampen the hopes of the most impatient fans, nothing has been done yet. If Resident Evil 0 and Code Veronica come back in the form of more modest remakes, it might be a boost for me too.
We know that Resident Evil 9 is in development and the game will surely be released before a remake. Capcom revealed the existence of RE9 to us in one of its last speeches, but it is also likely that the refresh of the franchise will continue after that with a RE 5 Remake. It is said that the latter is not currently included in Capcom’s short and medium-term plans, but if we follow the logic of what the publisher has been doing for years, it will certainly happen. And here too there will be even more work than with RE4 Remake, since RE5, like the sixth installment, are two works that are clearly divided when they are released. There would be almost everything to review, so if Capcom has to burn massive amounts of new resources, it will certainly be on one of them.
Wait and see, as they say. At the moment, it’s not even Resident Evil that’s in the spotlight, but Monster Hunter Wilds, which will be released next year. Each monster in its own time.
