NetherRealm Studios announced a new expansion pack for Mortal Kombat 1, Khaos Reigns, which includes more story and six new characters.

If you’ve been waiting to hear about the next batch of characters coming to Mortal Kombat 1, you’re in luck, because a whole bunch of them were revealed at San Diego Comic-Con this week. Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boom was at Comic-Con to show off the game’s first expansion pack, as well as the game’s next Kombat Pack, which revealed all six characters. Three of them are classic Mortal Kombat characters, Cyrax, Sektor, and Noob Saibot, but the other three are actually cameos: Terminator T-1000 from Terminator 2, Ghostface from Scream, and Conan the Barbarian from Conan the Barbarian.

None of this will come as a surprise to you guys, as datamining a month ago already uncovered evidence of these six characters, but it’s still nice to have confirmation. You’ll also probably be happy to hear that Roger Jackson, the iconic voice actor for Ghostface, will be reprising his role in the game, as if there’s anyone else but him. Robert Patrick obviously lent his likeness to the T-1000, but he’ll be back to voice his character as well. Conan the Barbarian will only feature the likeness of Arnold Schwarzenegger, though, with the voice actor yet to be confirmed.

The expansion will also continue the story with a brand new campaign, which is described as follows: “When a dangerous threat arrives from another timeline, led by the ruthless Titan Harvec, whose sole mission is to plunge the world into chaos, Liu Kang must rally his warriors and trust that his enemies can defeat this grave danger. If they fail, the new era will descend into anarchy.”

Animality, a fan-favorite finishing move, also returns, allowing characters to transform into spirit animals to defeat opponents. The feature will be available to all players for free, and the MK 95 Scorpion skin based on the original 1995 movie is already available for free.

You won’t have to wait too long for Khaos Reigns, as it will be released on all platforms on September 24th.
