The insider claims: Jeff Grubb im GrubbSnax-Podcast According to Microsoft, there are currently talks in which strong interest in Fallout: New Vegas 2 is expressed. In this context, the studio Obsidian Entertainment is also mentioned, which was already responsible for the first Fallout: New Vegas.
Grubb also speculates that Microsoft doesn’t want to let the Fallout series sit for too long. After all, Bethesda itself is currently busy with Starfield, after which The Elder Scrolls 6 will keep the studio busy for many more years and leave little room for a new Bethesda fallout. For Grubb, the logical consequence would be that Microsoft would leave a new part to another studio – so why not the in-house Obsidian Entertainment?

Fans should keep in mind, however, that of course nothing is officially confirmed or in the towel. Grubb himself emphasizes that the talks are very, very early and the release of a potential Fallout: New Vegas 2 is still a long way off.

His statements and potential information regarding new games or developments within large and small studios can therefore be classified as credible. How are the chances? In fact, New Vegas 2’s odds have never been better. Obsidian Entertainment developed the first part on behalf of Bethesda. But despite Obsidian’s interest in a sequel, it never materialized. With Microsoft’s purchase of Bethesda in March 2021, Obsidian and the Fallout license are now under one roof.
Accordingly, it would be anything but absurd if Microsoft took this opportunity and actually commissioned New Vegas 2 from Obsidian. After all, New Vegas is not only considered one of the best, if not the best part of the series, not only among Fallout fans. How soon could a New Vegas 2 be out?
At the moment, talks are about a potential Fallout: New Vegas 2 not officially confirmed. However, if Jeff Grubb’s information is correct, we would have to wait a long time until the sequel actually appears. Because the fact that there is supposedly still talk about the possibility of a sequel means that development has not even started yet.
In the best case, we still have to wait a long time: In addition, Obsidian Entertainment is currently still busy with its in-house role-playing game Avowed, which will be released between 2022 and 2023 at the earliest. And then there would be The Outer Worlds 2 to develop. Even if Obsidian pounced on Fallout: New Vegas 2 right after that, the release would still be a few years away.
By the way, there were rumors about a possible Fallout: New Vegas 2 as early as 2021, according to which the game is said to be planned for a 2025 to 2030 release.
