The sequel-like, soft reboot-like saga of The Office just added its next cast members.
A sequel to the beloved series The Office has been in the works for a while, but it wasn’t until May of this year that Peacock finally ordered the show. Now, according to the Palisadian-Post, the next three cast members for the new series have been confirmed, thanks to a trio of visits to the long-running newspaper. The three actors are apparently Chelsea Frei (Poker Face), Melvin Gregg (American Vandal), and Ramona Young (Santa Clarita Diet), all of whom seem like perfect fits for a mockumentary like The Office.

It is currently believed that the new series will be called The Newspaper. Aside from being produced by the same fictional documentary team, the show doesn’t appear to be directly related to The Office. The official synopsis goes into more detail: “The documentary team immortalizing Dunda Mifflin’s Scranton branch, in search of a new subject, discovers a historic Midwestern newspaper on the verge of extinction, which the publisher is trying to revive with volunteer journalists.”
Back in April, before the show was even ordered, it was reported that Domhnall Gleeson (Star Wars) and Sabrina Impaccioto (White Lotus) had been attached to join the ensemble cast. The Paper is also being led by The Office creator Greg Daniels, who has brought on board Nathan for You co-creator Michael Koman, so with two such showrunners at the helm, you can expect some awkward moments that rival the original show.
Beyond that, details are scarce, and since casting is still ongoing, the show isn’t likely to start production for some time, so don’t expect to see anything new for quite some time. Besides, that gives you more time to rewatch The Office for the 87th time, right?
