When Leslie Benzies announces a new open-world game, the world listens. Because Benzies led the development of GTA 3, GTA 4 and GTA 5 at Rockstar before he and the studio fell out, sued and finally divorced out of court.
A new game from Benzies, this must be a big deal. And it will – but differently than expected.
Because Everywhere, Benzie’s new game, left questioning faces at first. The trailer, which ran on Gamescom’s Opening Night in 2022, looked like a mix of child-friendly science fiction à la Fortnite and a dark real-world setting.
Is this supposed to be a single game? No, now we know: Everywhere is two games! Because Dimi spoke to Benzie’s new studio Build a Rocket Boy and saw Everywhere live.
Or the comic-like sandbox builder Everywhere and Mindseye, Leslie Benzie’s new cyberpunk GTA, which will be a separate part of the game. And then again not.
In the podcast, Dimi discusses with Géraldine and Micha how everything that he has seen from Everywhere fits together and why this is a pointer to the future of gaming.

Everywhere itself will be a colorful kit like Roblox, in which players can design their own houses and even small games: car races, shooter missions, boss fights and so on.
However, other “games” can be docked onto this sandbox world – including Mindseye, which, like Everywhere itself, is created in Unreal Engine 5 and becomes a classic single-player story shooter.
What sounds like an oddly two-pronged concept is actually a pointer to the future of gaming. Everywhere sees itself not as a game, but as a platform that can offer a huge variety of gaming experiences.
User-generated content plays a central role in this, i.e. content created by players, which has already made Minecraft and Roblox so successful and is currently one of the most important industry trends.
Also because artificial intelligence will make content creation much easier.

Well, or less briefly and concisely, when Micha has to defend himself against Géraldine’s infamous vampire accusations.
