The Order: 1886: Rumor: Sequel in progress for PS5 and XSX?

Order, progress, PS5, Rumor, sequel, XSX

In February 2015, The Order: 1886, an exclusive title for Sony's PlayStation 4, was released, but ultimately could not fully meet the high expectations in advance. Accordingly, the franchise had become very quiet, but this may still be making a comeback.

This year, the next generation of consoles around PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X is expected to start and a sequel to The Order: 1886 could possibly play a role. Corresponding rumors are now coming from Leaker OsirisBlack in the gaming forum NeoGAF therefore.

In a thread about the two next-gen consoles, the user spoke up and gave some details about a supposed trailer that he was shown for a previously unannounced PS5 and XSX title. OsirisBlack did not name a specific name, but the pointers in the thread are very condensed towards The Order.

The video shows a man armed with a firearm, who walks into a dark room with a lamp attached to his shoulder and meets a four-armed monster there. He manages to escape and get to safety behind a locked door. The trailer ends with the monster continuing to threaten the main character from the other side and says "I found you".

The video clip is said to have largely shown real gameplay and not pre-rendered cut scenes. The real-time character models, the lighting and the physics are said to have been "at a different level" according to the Leaker. He speaks graphically of the "best looking I have ever seen".

The Order: 1886, which was set in the alternative 19th century, had already been praised for character design and appearance, but was also criticized for the numerous quick-time events and the short playing time. These criticisms may be erased in the successor to PS5 and Xbox Series X – if the rumor is actually confirmed.

OsirisBlack at least has a good vita when it comes to leaks. For example, the user correctly distributed specific details about the PS4 Pro months before the console was announced. This also fits in with the fact that developer Ready At Dawn only recently advertised vacancies in which there was talk of a "new, expanding AAA title". We'll keep you up to date!
