No, Back to the Future 4 isn’t in the book, but original director Robert Zemeckis is technically open to making another movie.
While we’re getting further and further away from Back to the Future’s relevance, considering the first film turns 40 next year, they’re classics for a reason, and IP is king, you can only guess what Universal is talking about way to bring it back. You don’t have to guess, though, because original director Robert Zemeckis recently spoke on the Happy Sad Confused podcast about the potential for a new show. Zemeckis did clarify that this was “just an exaggeration,” but Universal did contact him frequently to ask if he’d like to make a sequel. “‘Is there anything we can figure out how to do it here?'” Zemeckis said, pretending to be from Universal Pictures. “‘Can we do something?'” Interestingly, he went on to say that he “wanted to do something.” [a] Back to the Future: The Musical [movie]. If you didn’t know there is a Back to the Future musical, first of all, there is, and secondly, it premiered in London in 2022, won the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Musical, and opened on Broadway last August. new musical, so it might actually be pretty good. Unfortunately for those who might have wanted such an adaptation, as Zemeckis mentioned, that didn’t happen, so now it sounds like Back to the Future is still a trilogy (you won’t find out I have no complaints).
