Jim Ryan begins his game with these kinds of things, which are meant to give an idea of what to expect when the “time comes”. Since Sony did not submit a picture, it is difficult to get a first opinion on the beast.
Here’s what the CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment said last night at the opening of CES 2022:
Happy New Year everyone !

Use the innovations of the PS5, PlayStation VR2 (note that there is no article in front) offers “a true next-generation experience, made possible by high-fidelity visuals, new sensory functions and improved tracking, all with.” a single cable. “So no more space in the mess of the first version …
Instead, let’s take a closer look:
- Fidelity : PS VR2 is 4K and HDR compatible, offers a 110 degree field of view, and features foveal rendering for a high fidelity viewing experience. Thanks to its OLED display, gamers can enjoy a display resolution of 2000 x 2040 per eye and a refresh rate of 90/120 Hz.
- Controller headset tracking : With full tracking technology based on cameras built into the VR headset, PS VR2 can track you and your controller. Your movements and the directions you have taken are taken into account in the game without the need for an external camera.
- New sensory functions : PS VR2 Sense technology combines eye tracking, headset feedback and 3D audio with the functionality of the PS VR2 Sense controller for unprecedented immersion. Headset Feedback is a new feature that dramatically increases the sensory dimension of player actions in the game world. This technology is based on a built-in motor that vibrates to add an intelligent tactile component that immerses the player even more deeply in the gaming experience. For example, players can feel a character’s pulse quickening during times of high tension, a grazing sensation when objects pass close to their character’s head, or the thrust of a vehicle gaining speed. Plus, the PS5’s Tempest 3D AudioTech technology brings the entire gaming environment to life for even more immersion.
- Eye tracking : The PS VR2 tracking system detects eye movements. A simple look in a certain direction can become an additional command for the character in the game. This enables players to interact more intuitively, innovatively and realistically with the environment, for tenfold emotional response, improved expression and a new level of realism in games.
