Game News The price of this terrible video game popular with streamers increases sharply when it comes to consoles
It thrilled PC gamers in 2020, it’s coming to PS5, PSVR 2, Xbox Series X/S… but at a higher price than originally planned.
Happy Halloween
Phasmophobia will soon come to haunt our consoles after PCs around the world are obsessed. You’ve obviously heard of this independent video game that hit hard, like a real poltergeist. It set sales records on Steam, was named the best VR game of the year (on Steam) in 2021, and won the titles for best first game at the Game Awards 2020 and the Game Developers Choice Awards 2021. The software was released in 2020 and developed by Kinetic Games, and has benefited greatly from its popularity on Twitch and YouTube, quickly becoming a phenomenon on streaming platforms. Yes, Phasmophobia delighted both gamers and Twitch viewers.
As a reminder: In this cooperative production, players become ghost hunters. The goal is to find out what kind of supernatural being haunts the place. Are they demons, ghosts, yokai, djinn? To identify the threat, hunters have tools and actions they can take to cross-reference information. This doesn’t happen without problems: as you can imagine, the being becomes more and more powerful and attacks the investigators.
Scared to death (like the card)
Originally promised for the month of August 2024, the console versions of Phasmophobia were finally postponed to October. They will actually arrive at the end of the year, coinciding with the Halloween event planned by Kinetic Game. The developer also explains that the console versions will benefit from all the additions of the PC version and that future updates will be available simultaneously on all media. The positive point is that there will be a cross-platform, which guarantees wild games regardless of the ecosystem chosen. This good news is accompanied by an announcement that is a little less gentle on our wallets: The price of Phasmophobia will increase from $13.99 to $19.99 later this year. According to the developers’ comments, reported by Gaming Shopthe new price is considered “fair increase” because of “Amount of content and playtime added since the start of Early Access“, we read. In case you’re wondering, Phasmophobia is not included in Game Pass.
